Reviews
I like this nice little book of excerpts for its successful adaptation of The Nutcracker to beginner/early intermediate playing abilities. The book captures the general feeling of each piece nicely, and with varied left-hand accompaniments, avoids the "oompah" sounding left-hand arrangements so prevalent in many beginners' waltz pieces. Players will need to be able to read notation fairly well as there is significant use of dc, ds, repeat etc...Early beginners with small ranges might have difficulty with some of the pieces as they do cover a 4 octave range, but overall, the difficulty level is not high. If played well, the songs in the book can really capture the magic of the original, especially for children and teens.
